LAB MEMBERS
Xinlin Gao, Ph.D. Student
Xinlin is a graduate student in the program of Genetics and Molecular Biology, co-supervised with Dr. Jian Hu. Xinlin received her B.S. in Biology and Quantitative Sciences in Informatics at Emory University. She is interested in learning epigenetics and RNA biology through spatial transcriptomics and computational biology. Additionally, She is also passionate about multi-omics data analysis and virology.
Outside academia, Xinlin loves outdoors, national parks, music, and cooking. Currently, she is on the look out for a dream dog!
Chuan-En Wang, Ph.D., Instructor
Chuan-En Wang received his Ph.D. in neurobiology and molecular virology from Sun Yat-Sen University in China after earning his M.S. in infectious disease and immunology from Zhejiang University School of Medicine and his M.D. from Xinxiang Medical University. He then pursued postdoctoral research in developmental genetics at the University of Louvain in Belgium and in inherited neurodegeneration at Emory University in the United States.
Chuan-En has a strong interest in the etiology and pathogenesis of age-associated degenerative disorders and genetically inherited conditions, particularly neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer's disease (AD), Parkinson's disease (PD), and Huntington's disease (HD). He is also interested in developing new treatments for these disorders. In the Shi lab, he is utilizing spatial omics in combination with other technologies and collaborating with fellow researchers to unravel the molecular mechanisms of the brain and other vital organs and systems in both health and disease states.
Outside the lab, Chuan-En enjoys exercising, reading, and listening to music.
Yu-Sheng Wang, Ph.D., Postdoc
Yu-Sheng earned his Ph.D. in biochemistry at Arizona State University, after receiving both his B.S. and M.S. in forestry and resource conservation from National Taiwan University in Taiwan.
He has a strong interest in RNA biology and the development of spatial transcriptomics techniques. In the Shi lab, he is focused on optimizing spatial genomics assays and developing novel methodologies to enable high-resolution RNA regulation analysis at the subcellular and single-cell levels.
Away from the bench, Yu-Sheng enjoys listening to music and swimming.
Yinuo Zhou, Undergraduate Researcher
Yinuo is an undergraduate student at Emory majoring in biology. She is from China and has a strong passion for health care. She is interested in the molecular mechanisms of the brain and its connections to diseases.
Outside the lab, Yinuo enjoys painting and drawing.
